It was a cloudy day here in Arizona, which are few and far between most days of the year here! Ruby and Penny stepped out of their parent’s car; these sweet and spunky sisters were SO ready for photos! As we were walking along the trails at Papago Park, Ruby was practicing her smiles and telling me about rainbows. Penny, who was at that age where you really have to use your detective skills to figure out what they’re trying to say, was babbling away with gummy bears in hand. She was so cute! I could tell instantly that Ruby was protective over her little sister, and wanted to make sure she was their to help her when she needed it. I love when big sisters are like little moms!

Also, I think it’s important to mention that this sweet family had literally JUST moved here from California that same week! I love that the first thing on their agenda here was to get their family pictures taken in the desert! My kind of people! During their session, we used gummy bears, music, and ice cream as bribes, because sometimes kids need a little encouragement LOL! These two parents and their two daughters were such a joy to be around. Through photography, I have the opportunity to meet so many people that I normally wouldn’t and honestly I love that! Also having been new to Phoenix just four short years ago, I was honored to be one of the first faces they met in their new city!

My passion for photography is more than just a business or a way to make extra money; it really is my way of being able to positively impact people and their lives. I love that I get to capture timeless moments for them! I hope you enjoy these photos of the Petrie family at Papago Park!
