It was 11:15 as I pulled into the church parking lot, the same church that I married my best friend in. But on this day, just two years and a few months later, it was another couple’s turn. Another couple’s turn to become unified and to become one. Juan, the life of any party, who can make just about anyone laugh, and Lexi, with fun and sass. Juan and his guys spent the morning playing video games and ping pong, while Lexi and her girls pampered themselves with matching floral robes, Starbucks (a bride must-have!), and a lot of hairspray.
I was able to witness the man who raised her, and the uncles & grandpa who helped, see the beautiful bride in her wedding dress for the first time. Her dad looked at her with such a sweet watery glow in his eye and her grandpa, looking as proud as ever. As tears flowed & tissues dampened their eyes, the love in the room was so tangible. It was almost time.
As Lexi walked down the aisle, her hand wrapped tightly around her dad’s arm, and her other hand wrapped around the stems of her beautiful bouquet where also attached was a pendant picture of her grandma. SO SWEET! They approached the front row which had framed pictures on both sides of two people so special to both Juan & Lexi’s hearts. Lexi’s grandma and Juan’s father, who were undoubtedly watching and smiling from Heaven. As Juan & Lexi became husband and wife, they took communion and worshipped together in such a raw & precious moment during their ceremony. The presence of God was so real!
This was the day they said “I do”. Arguably the shortest sentence with the least amount of letters, but a statement that holds so much meaning and emotion. So much thought, planning, and preparation went into making this day something so memorable. At their reception, they danced the night away with their closest friends and family.
To Juan and Lexi, thank you for letting me serve you on your perfect wedding day! Thank you for trusting me when I told you I wanted to take your bridal party photos in the middle of a LEGIT desert. Juan, your GQ status groomsmen photo ideas had me rolling laughing! You and your crew made those so fun! Lexi, you were such a calm and joyful bride! And not to mention, drop dead gorgeous!! It was truly an honor to spend the day with both of you and to experience so many of the special moments. From Austin and I both, we love you and are so excited for your future as husband and wifey!
